I love @carolinaground and getting to spend a litt I love @carolinaground and getting to spend a little time with @jllapidus was a highlight of my trip. I spent the rest of the week mixing dough and baking with my sweet nieces. The Dirty Blond flour is available for shipping, and boy is it a fun one to play with. Hi everyone. It’s been a while, but I wanted to Hi everyone. It’s been a while, but I wanted to pop in to say that my collection of everyday recipes is out as a book. Longform has always been my medium, and I’m excited to share! These are the recipes that are on my bread board and table regularly. If you want to check it out, the link is in my profile. I have many people to thank in bringing this book into the world, and into your hands. Bread is about community, and this book reflects the relationships that have carried me. Let me start with @hey_jenni_ for being with me on this project from beginning to end, and with @k.e.gourley for swooping in when needed. These two put the pieces of this book together.
You know you’re among friends when you suggest a You know you’re among friends when you suggest a bagel spot because you’ve heard it’s the best, and your Brooklyn-based friends show up with extra bagels from their favorite places. They set up a spontaneous taste-test in the park, and it does, in fact, prove that their off-the-radar bagel spot has the superior bagel. 🥯💛🥯 Altogether, my kid and I went to eleven bagel places from Harlem to Park Slope, and while we enjoyed many of them, we both agreed that @talbagels had our hole-less little hearts.
Our Daily Bread Now you are a microcosm of the tu Our Daily Bread Now you are a microcosm of the tumbling universe, carried by time’s debris to sustain and delight. I dip my finger in, cradle you with my senses as you reach for me with your sweet malty scent— Your grasses and oceans and a million living molecules that feed and transform and become. Someday we will cut into this, slice away thick hearty pieces, take bites we think we can swallow, nourish our heartbreak— heels of crust waiting to be gnawed. We’ve already yielded to this mystery of holding together and pushing outward, the quotidian balance our bodies allow after the crush of furrows, our selves worked until ready for fire. Take this— a thousand bites of bread and devour long eons of toil and hunger, morning’s darkness, awakened in wild necessity for a taste of you.

When my friend @sonyamichellesanford sent me this photo of my hands cutting bread for a meal we were about to share, I suddenly saw the meaning of “breaking bread” as the simple act of sharing that it is. 🌾💛🍞Bread is my favorite meditation.
